Plow Batch Mixers



The Scott Plow Mixer's insightful design incorporates high intensity wedge-shaped plows to deliver a fluidized mixing zone. The mixer shaft operates at higher speeds than a traditional batch mixer and when incorporated with the cylindrical vessel design, delivers excellent mixing results.

Scott Equipment Company has developed a versatile plow and feed mixer that a variety of process industries have come to rely on for their mixing requirements. Our plow mixer is durably constructed with a horizontal mixing chamber. Cylindrical in shape, it has a solid shaft with the mixer elements welded or bolted to the support posts. The plow mixer is available with all of the necessary sanitary features to meet USDA, FDA and 3A requirements.

The fluidized bed created by the mixing agitator is ideal for mixing solids to solids, solids to liquids and liquids to solids. In applications where heating or cooling the product is desired, the fluidization created by the mixing action offers the product excellent surface area coverage on the mixer cylinder. This action greatly increases the efficiency of the unit to act as a drying or cooling vessel. Our plow mixers, feed mixers and slurry mixers are all available in mild or stainless steel and are manufactured in a complete sanitary design with steam heat, hot water heat or cold water jackets for cooling.

Plow Mixer Access Doors

The Scott Plow Mixer is available with either a clamshell or a hinged-door design. Both access doors are sanitary and allow for complete mixer access, meeting USDA, FDA and 3A requirements. Safety limit switches are provided on all mixer access points.

Plow Mixer Discharge Gates

Scott Equipment offers a variety of discharge gates for our Plow Mixer. Available sizes for the gates range from 2" in diameter to 36" in diameter. With the ribbon agitator design, the discharge gate can be located on either end or in the center of the mixer. However, with the paddle agitator design, the discharge gate must be located in the center of the mixer for efficient cleanout. Our selection of discharge gates will suit your needs no matter your unique applications. Custom designed discharges are also available.

Our standard seals are suitable for most Plow Mixer applications, capable of meeting the demands of today's mixing industry. Scott Equipment will accommodate any needs for custom seals as well, should you have a particular concern with your product.

Plow Mixer Agitators

The Scott Plow Mixer utilizes overlapping wedge-style plows to deliver a fluidized mixing zone, separating and lifting the mixture in a three-dimensional motion, while the number and arrangement of the plows insure back and forth agitation along the length of the cylinder. The insightful design creates an ideal mixing bed for mixing solids to solids, solids to liquids and liquids to solids. In applications where heating or cooling the product is desired, the fluidization created by the mixing action offers the product excellent surface area coverage on the mixer cylinder, increasing the efficiency of the unit to act as a drying or cooling vessel.
